Purpose:
The PCR reagent test system is designed to detect DNA of fungi, causative agents of dermatomycosis, of the genus Trichophyton and the genus Microsporum, which cause lesions of the skin, hair, and nails. The kit detects DNA from microsporia pathogens (fungi of the genus Microsporum), rubrum fungi (Trichophyton rubrum), and athlete's foot and superficial trichophytosis of the scalp and glabrous skin (Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans, and Trichophyton schoenleinii).
The test material includes epithelial cell scrapings from affected areas of the scalp, the inner arch of the foot, interdigital spaces, and nail fragments.
Reagents for DNA extraction are not included in the kit. For DNA extraction, it is recommended to use the DNA-Sorb-B reagent kit (Next-Bio LLC). The analytical sensitivity of the kit is 104 DNA copies/ml for each of the pathogens in the original sample.
