Purpose

The Dermatophytosis-PCR reagent kit is designed for the detection of DNA of fungi from the genera Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton, which cause lesions of the skin, hair, and nails. The kit allows for the detection of DNA of the causative agents of microsporia (fungi of the genus Microsporum), epidermophytosis (fungi of the genera Trichophyton and Epidermophyton), as well as differentiation of Trichophyton rubrum DNA (the causative agent of rubrophytosis) from the DNA of other species of fungi of the genus Trichophyton (T. mentagrophytes/interdigitale, T. tonsurans, T. violaceum, T. schoenleinii, T. soudanense) – causative agents of epidermophytosis of the feet and superficial trichophytosis of the scalp and smooth skin, and to determine the presence of genes conferring resistance to terbinafine.

The material for the study is DNA preparations obtained from epithelial cell scrapings from affected areas of the skin, scalp, inner arch of the foot and interdigital spaces, as well as fragments of nail plates. Reagents for DNA extraction are not included in the kit.
